DAY 1
We are so glad that you have joined us on the journey of the Road to Redemption. We are hopeful that throughout the next twelve days, you will follow Jesus' path to the empty tomb through the devotionals drawn from of the Passion Week scriptures.
Today we begin with a characteristic of Christ that is foundational to His life, death, and resurrection: Jesus as Immanuel. Watch the video below, meditate on the scriptures and reflection question, and then end your devotional time in song, praising God and worshipping Him for all that He is, and all that He has done.

Matthew 1:20-23 (ESV)
20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying,
“Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

Reflect
The gospel of John says that Immanuel, Jesus came into the world, but " the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him." (John 1:10-11). This is still true of people who are lost all over the world today. How are you making Jesus' name known to those in your life who do not know him?
