Sunday Morning Worship Guide | March 29, 2020
Good morning! We're glad you've planned to worship with the Catawba Valley Baptist Church family!
Worship Guide Instructions: The Sunday Morning Worship Guide is simply that . . . a guide. We pray that you will use this resource to personally encounter God today by worshipping and communing with Him. To achieve the most out of our virtual Sunday Worship Service, we encourage you to work through the guide as a family and make it your own. Take your time, seek the Lord, and press into the truth He has for you today!
Use this time to reflect upon your personal relationship before Him and express your thankfulness for who He is. Just think about this, right now where you are sitting, you have the ability to worship God in spirit and in truth. Consider the truth of Scripture regarding who God is and what He has done for you. Use these Scripture truths to guide your heart into an attitude of thanksgiving and praise.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESV)

Scripture Reading
Please read the following Scripture passage and reflect upon the following questions.
Psalm 36:5-12 (ESV) | How Precious Is Your Steadfast Love
5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
your judgments are like the great deep;
man and beast you save, O Lord.
7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.
10 Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your righteousness to the upright of heart!
11 Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me,
nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the evildoers lie fallen;
they are thrust down, unable to rise.
5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,

Questions for Reflection
1) What is one time in your life that you personally experienced God's faithfulness in His promises?
2) As children of God, we are privileged to take refuge in His steadfast love. Do you run to Him for refuge during times of trial, or are there other things in which you seek comfort during difficulty?
3) What are you enjoying from God's abundance (v.8) in this time of relative scarcity?
4) Is there anything your life that threatens to "drive you away" from God's presence?

Worship through praying
Commune with the Lord in prayer
Read the prayer below and reflect upon some specific things in your life that you may . . .
confess to God, adore God for, thank God for, and ask God for.
confess to God, adore God for, thank God for, and ask God for.
Our gracious heavenly Father, we praise You for all Your promises are "yes" in Christ Jesus! All You decree shall come to pass. In the midst of our doubts and uncertainties, You remain faithful. I will sing of Your steadfast love forever. Thank you that my actions do not change You. Help me to commit my concerns into Your faithful and sovereign hands. O Maker of heaven and earth, I praise you for Your wisdom and faithfulness which has been displayed throughout all generations. Your unending faithfulness sustains my life and Your kindness surrounds my life in all that You've made. I bless Your name, for You are great and greatly to be praised! I ask this all in the glorious name of Christ Jesus, Amen.
Now spend time before the Lord, praying to Him and praying with one another.
Pray for Our Missions Staff
THE ARCHER FAMILY
Our missionaries around the globe are facing the fallout of the coronavirus outbreak, and their ministry plans have been greatly affected by lockdowns, quarantines, and health precautions. This is especially true for the Archer family. The Archers were very close to moving to Togo before the outbreak began, but their plans to relocate have been interrupted. France has issued a nationwide quarantine and travel restrictions in order to contain the spread of the virus, so the Archers will remain in Albertville for the time being. Here are some ways that Jonathan has requested our family to pray for his family amidst the sudden changes brought on by COVID-19:
- Continued prayer for the people whom the Archers have grown strong relationships with during their time in France.
- Pray for wisdom regarding how to guide the children during this time.
- Pray that the family can grow together in serving one another "without irritating one another."
- Pray for the family as they continue their French studies. Jonathan, Michelle, and all of the children's schooling has become digitally based, which makes their studies more challenging.

Sermon Reflective Questions
Spend some time reflecting on the implications of God's faithfulness to us.
1) Look up Psalm 89:31-34 and think about what that truth means regarding God's faithfulness to us.
2) What do these three verses (Psalm 91:15; Psalm 143:1; Jeremiah 29:12) teach us about God's faithfulness to us when we pray?
3) What do 1 John 1:9 and 2 Timothy 2:13, teach us about God's faithfulness and our sin?
4) Psalm 89:1 tells us to "make known [God's] faithfulness to all generations," who is one person this week you will share God's story of faithfulness with?

Worship through giving
Let's worship the Lord together through giving
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, “He has distributed freely, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” 2 Corinthians 9:8-9 (ESV)
Why We Give? Catawba Valley is committed to modeling the spirit of giving, demonstrated by God himself. The Scriptures teach, that "every good and perfect gift" comes to us from God's sovereign hands (James 1:17). Because of His great love for us, He gave the ultimate gift of eternal life through the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son. So ultimately, we give in response to all Jesus has given to us (2 Corinthians 8:9).
In Scripture, we discover the principle of first fruits, which involves giving back to the Lord a portion of all He has given to us. We are stewards, not owners, of what God has entrusted to us. Therefore, the principle of first fruits involves giving back to God what is His and faithfully stewarding the remainder appropriately. When we give our first and best back to God, He promises to bless the rest. We believe that the experience of giving our resources back to the Lord is an act of worship. Faithful giving is a tangible reflection of a heart that celebrates what God is doing in your family, in our congregation, in our community, and around the world.
So as we give unto the Lord, we express our partnership in the gospel to advance His kingdom "both here and around the world"
Continue to remain faithful in your giving unto the LORD by supporting the ongoing ministry of CVBC and our Missions Staff serving around the globe. Giving options include: online giving, text-to-give, or mailing in contributions.
